What is the Circle of the Turning Yew?

We are a community of Trans, Non-Binary, Gender Non-Conforming, and Intersex Pagans, Druids, and Nature-Based Spiritualists. We are based within the East Sussex region, centred around Brighton.

As we group, we seek to build Trans+ community amongst the broader Pagan community. We want to see a world where our lived experiences are uplifted for being the natural and spiritually significant gift that they are.

We are communal, meaning that as a group we believe in cooperation and principles of mutual aid and support by, for, and through community. We operate on the principles of consensus building democracy - where every effort is made to find consensus before the use of standard majoritarian democratic practices.

We believe in open rituals that are inclusive of gender diversity, are non-patriarchal, and centre the experiences of the most marginalised by society amongst us.

Why the name “Turning Yew”?

The Yew Tree is well known in nature and in science for having the capability to change its sex dynamics throughout its life. It adapts to the environment it lives in, standing strong and providing comfort for those who seek its majesty. We believe the Yew, the Turning Yew, to be a respectful representation of us as seekers.
